Salutory Move !

Since the coming to power of the military government in Burkina Faso, there has been numerous drastic changes aimed at improving on the living conditions of the people. The latest of such decisions came last Saturday when the country’s military ruler announced plans to withdraw mining permits from some foreign companies and hand them to local enterprises. The move which is seen as a major step to create more jobs in the country has been hailed by a cross-section of the living forces. It is no more a secret that, gold and many other minerals are important exports of the country. Though President Ibrahim Traore’s decision to withdraw the permit does not carry any deadline, the country is bent on controlling their resources. “We know how to mine our gold and I don't understand why we're going to let multinationals come and mine it,” Traore said. 
While more details are expected to be made public with regards to which company would have to lose their mining rights, frustration over a long-running security crisis in the country has hindered several multinational companies like the London-listed Endeavour Mining, Australia-based West African Resources, Russia's Nordgold, and Canada's Orezone Gold Corporation from operating normally.
