Improvement in the Medical Sector : Scientific Conference Previewed

The conference, which will feature debates, workshops and a plenary session, will be held at the Douala General Hospital from 8 to 9 November.

Medical Doctors and paramedics from Cameroon and abroad will gather at the Douala General Hospital on 8 and 9 November for the 4th edition of the Scientific and Research Days. For two days, the participants will discuss the topic "Hospital Acquired Infections: Challenges and Perspectives in 2024", which is the focus of this edition. As a prelude to the 8-9 November event, a press conference was organised on Monday 4 November to inform media professionals about the activities surrounding the event.
During the press conference, the President of the organising committee, Prof. Tchente Nguefack Charlotte, explained that the Scientific and Research Days are often organised every two years and they always give medical practitioners the opportunity to discuss the latest developments in the field of medicine. Referring to the WHO statistics, she said that about 15-20% of patients who come to the emergency department get infected in the hospital environment. And this infection is often multi-resistant, which complicates the patient's situation.
Professor said that this is often the cause of some deaths within the intensive care unit.  She said that such infections can be prevented by 70 per cent, as such she said it was important for people in the medical field to discuss ways on how to bring the hospital infection rate to 0%. Reasons why the theme "Hospital Acquired Infections: Challenges and Perspectives in 2024" will allow practitioners to discuss better ways to eradicate hospital-acquired infection. She explained that they have been working tirelessly to ensure that they have the best opportunities to practice after the conference. She revealed that they were expecting about 300 participants and so far 250 have registered.
