World Sambo Championships : Competition Commences Today

Four Cameroonian athletes will begin the race for medals this Friday, November 8, 2024 in Astana, Kazakhstan.
The 49th World Sambo Championships officially began yesterday November 7, 2024 in Astana, Kazakhstan with 12 Cameroonian athletes set to compete in the competition. The official opening ceremony started with a weighing ceremony yesterday evening. The Cameroonian delegation comprising 12 male and female athletes with the technical staff took part in the opening ceremony.
The Cameroonian delegation led by the Representative of the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education, Mendouane Alvin and the President arrived in Astana of the Cameroon Sambo Federation, Francois Mbassi on Wednesday November 6, 2024. The athletes and officials had their first official training session in the morning in Astana. Four Cameroonian athletes will be competing for medals today, Friday, November 8, 2024. They are Tombou Mouafouo Julien in the men’s +98kg sambo sport and Mballa Lionel Ghislain (-79 kg sambo sport). In the women’s category the athletes are Kamsu Gwladys (+80 kg sambo sport) and Onguené Tsimi Marie Victoire (72 kg Combat).
