Sambo World Championship : Cameroon Wins Two Bronze Medals

From that performance Cameroon finished as the first African country in the competition that rounded off in Kazakhstan on Sunday, November 10, 2024.
The 49th edition of the World Sambo Championship ended in Astana, Kazakhstan, on Sunday, November 10, 2024. Organised by the International Sambo Federation, the competition brought together 80 countries from across the world. The fighters competed in the combat sambo and sambo sports in 31 categories. At the end of the competition Russia finished first with 26 medals, including 16 gold. The host country Kazakhstan was second with 17 medals, including three gold medals and Belarus was third with three gold medals.
Cameroon occupied the 15 position with two bronze medals. The bronze medals were won by Nji Moulouh Seidou in the -98kg sambo combat and Joseph Bessala Awono -79kg sambo combat. From that performance Cameroon finished as the first African country in the competition. Joseph Bessala is one of the youngest sambo athletes to win a bronze medal in the world championship. Many observers believe the level of the competition was very high. Ni Moulouh Seidou said he is satisfied as Cameroon won another bronze medal making twomedals for Africa. “The level of the competition was very high. We are conscious and we will do better the next time,” he said. He said after returning home, he and his team mates will continue training for next year’s edition.
