Dixiades 2024 : Organisers Inspect Competition Venues

Members of the Local Organising Committee of the National Games examined infrastructure that will host sports events on November 12, 2024 in Yaounde.
The DIXIADES Games are fast approaching. In this light, members of the Local Organising Committee inspected sports infrastructure that will host the different events on November 12, 2024 in Yaounde. The visit led by the Assistant Coordinator General of the DIXIADES Games, David Ojong, who doubles as Secretary General of the Cameroon Olympic Committee of the National Olympic and Sports Committee began at the Annex Stadium 2 of the Olembe Stadium.
The aim was to examine the venue where athletics competitions will be taking place. They checked the athletics track for the track events and the playground for the field events. The delegation later moved to the Mfandena Gymnasium where some of the indoor sports like handball, volleyball and basketball, among others will take place. The organisers also visited other sites like the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex, the Yaounde Military Stadium, Gymnasium of the National Institute of Youth and Sports (INJS), the campus of Lycée Général Leclerc, the MATECO Stadium of the University of Yaounde 1 and the Presidential Guard Stadium in Obili as well as some hotels in the city.
The Assistant Coordinator General, David Ojong, said as far as the sports infrastructure is concerned, only few adjustments need to be made to be sure that the sites are ready for competition.
