King Charles’ Birthday Celebrated

The November 21, 2024 event was an occasion for the British High Commissioner to salute relations between Cameroon and the United Kingdom.

The Bastos residence of the British High Commissioner to Cameroon was the venue of the celebration of King Charles III’s 76th birthday. Apart from the splendid decor, the caliber of people who thronged the residence was commensurate with the magnitude of the event. On hand to welcome the guests was the British High Commissioner to Cameroon, His Excellency Matt Woods. Flanked by the Government representative, Felix Mbayu, Minister Delegate to the Minister of External Relations in Charge of the Commonwealth, cabinet ministers and members the diplomatic corps, the British High Commissioner who has been in Cameroon for only seven weeks said, « the celebration of King Charles’s birthday is always an important moment in the life of the Monarchy…It is part of our National identity». The King, like his late mother Queen Elizabeth II, celebrates two birthdays. November 14 each year, which is his actual birthday, and his official birthday on the second Saturday in June.
 He hailed the «broad, deep and historic » relations between London and Yaounde that has expanded enormously in domains such as defence, trade, preservation of biodiversity and the fight against climate change.
