Bakossi Festival of Arts and Culture : Calls For Unity Galore Amidst Rich Cultural Display

The cultural jamboree which took place under the patronage of Minister Assistant Secretary General at the Presidency Elung Paul Che ended in grand style on August 30 2025 in Tombel.
Tombel, one of the ancestral towns of the Bakossi people in the Kupe Muanenguba and Moungo Divisions in the South West and Littoral Regions vibrated to the rhythm of the rich cultural and artistic displays from August 27 to August 30, 2025. The event was the first edition of the Bakossi Festival of Arts and Culture (BAFAC), held on theme, “Celebrating the Heritage, Wisdom and Creativity of the Bakossi People.” It brought together sons and daughters from the nocks and crannies of Kupe Muanenguba and Moungo Divisions from home and abroad who converged for a common purpose and destiny of the Bakossi tribe. Powered by Scandic Vibes Entertainment, the festival which has been embraced by the people, resonated the spirit of cultural revival and reawakening.
Speaking at the event, one of the illustrious Bakossi sons, Elung Paul Che, Minister, Assistant Secretary General at the Presidency of the Republic hailed the promoters of the historic festival which he described as a clarion call and reawakening of the Bakossi spirit. “We are not strangers from different corners of Kupe Muanenguba, the South West, the Littoral, or the Diaspora. We are simply Bakossi; a people bound by one heritage, one ancestry, and a common destiny. Therefore, I urge that we move forward together united, inspired, and proud of our unique and shared identity,” Minister Elung told hundreds of attendees of BAFAC opening ceremony including administrative, municipal authorities, traditional chiefs, elite and cultural groups.
