South West: Turkish Ambassador Explores Cooperation Opportunities

H.E Volkan Oskiper, was on a three-day working visit to the region recently to strengthen bilateral relations between Cameroon and Turkey.

During the visit to Limbe, Buea and Kumba, Ambassador Volkan Oskiper held a series of meetings with key administrative, political and security authorities, including South West Governor, Bernard Okalia Bilai, President of the South West Regional Executive Council, Bakoma Elango Zacheus, Mayors, Port officials, and authorities of major State corporations such as the Cameroon Development Corporation (CDC) and the National Oil Refinery (SONARA). He also met with top military officials, humanitarian actors, and health authorities, including officials of the Kumba Regional Hospital Annex. The stopover, scheduled from January 26 to 28, 2026, was Ambassador Volkan Oskiper’s first official trip to the South West and forms part of efforts to deepen ties between Cameroon and Turkey. Speaking to the press on Tuesday, January 27 at the Governor’s office, the Turkish diplomat said the mission was essentially an introductory visit aimed at assessing the region’s potential and was looking forward to returning in the future. According to Ambassador Volkan Oskiper, the stopover was intended to explore opportunities and canvass possibilities, adding that the Turkish business community is very interested in this part of Cameroon.
