Nigeria : Boko Haram Commander Khalid, Ten Others Killed

This was during a raid on January 30, 2026 in the northeast of the country by the Nigerian military.
Nigerian military officials have announced the killing of a key Boko Haram commander, Abu Khalid, with at least 10 of his terrorists’ companions in an ongoing defensive manoeuvres in the north-eastern part of the country. ABC news reports that Abu Khalid, was Boko Haram’s second in-command in charge of operations and logistics in the Sambisa Forest. The operation which had been going on since January 11, 2026 saw the killing of about 70 terrorists in a series of military operations that also witnessed destruction of several camps in Kaduna State which Boko Haram terrorists used to attack vulnerable communities, residents of the Kaura local government area in southern Kaduna State told CSW.
In a statement, the army said its troops carried out the operation in the Sambisa Forest located in Borno State without any casualties. They added that after the killing, Abu Khalid said to be a key figure within the terrorist group, was properly identified. Army spokesman Sani Uba told ABC News that in the same operation, soldiers rescued 11 individuals; five men, three women and three children that armed assailants abducted on October 26, 2025, from the Kachia local government area. But more than 165 people kidnapped from three churches during worship services on January 18, 2026 remain missing, as counter terrorism operations continue in the forested areas across the northeast.
