Promoting Youth Entrepreneurship : Government On The Offensive

Authorities seek to deepen youth engagement in the productive economic activities as well as generate employment for the country’s youth population.
In what some pundits have described as a New Year gift from the government to Cameroonian youth, the Economic Inclusion Project of the Adaptive Safety Net programme taking place across the national triangle is aimed at contributing to beef up entrepreneurial ingenuity of young people. The project is a non-refundable government grant to young people aged between 18-35 years, with the grants raging from FCFA 5.5 million to FCFA 11 million depending on the nature of the project pitched. Indeed, this is a mouth-watering opportunity for Cameroonian youth to embrace and become reputable entrepreneurs who will be movers and shakers of the country’s economic fabric in no distant time from now.
In the South West Region, some 160 youth will be shortlisted to benefit from the scheme. Similarly, some 150 youth are also gearing up to benefit from the same government largesse in the North West Region. This indicates that some 310 youth entrepreneurs from both regions will be economically empowered with seed capital to become full fledge entrepreneurs. In fact, the Economic Inclusion Project is a national project that will change the lives of several hundreds of Cameroonian youth either directly or indirectly.
