Peter Essoka Prize for Excellence: Outstanding Journalists Recognised

Some four Cameroonian Journalists of the audio-visual media have been recognised for their outstanding achievement and prowess in communication. They emerged winners of the “The Peter Essoka Prize for Excellence in Journalism”, launched by the Ministry of External Relations within the framework of Commonwealth Day activities for 2026. The awards were for the best female and male newscasters and the best male and female animators, with each of the winners receiving a cash prize of FCFA 500,000. External Relations Minister, Mbella chaired the ceremony yesterday March 16, 2026 in the presence of other members of government, notably the Minister of Communication, René Emmanuel Sadi, and High Commissioners of Commonwealth member countries. Druscilla Mokosso Joki of CRTV emerged winner as best female newscaster with Esther Kima and Manka’a Ambe coming in the runner-up and third place respectively. For the best male newscaster, Ben Meno Pufong of the national broadcaster came in the first position. As concerns the best female and male animators, the winners were respectively Patience Embelle Fominyen and Njeck Sylvanus. The runner-ups of all the categories received a compensation cash prize of FCFA 100,000 from the Minister of External Relations. The fiveman jury led by Joseph Chebonkeng Kalabubse explained that voting took place between March 2-9, 2026 and entries were received for Journalists working in CRTV, PCC TV, My Media Prime and Dash TV. Congratulating the laureates, External Relations Minister explained the choice of honouring Peter Essoka through an excellence award in journalism.
