Cameroon Chess Federation: Sports Season Launched

A tournament was organised at the Yaounde Multipurpose Complex last weekend to further popularise the discipline.
The Cameroon Chess Federation (FECADE) officially launched its 2026 sports season with a successful Unity Tournament held at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex on Saturday, May 30, 2026. The ceremony was presided over by Pedagogic Inspector of Physical Education, Dieudonné Mbarga, representing the Minister of Sports and Physical Education. The Unity Tournament was the highlight of the event, bringing together approximately 120 players from Cameroon and abroad. Competitors battled for honours across several categories, including Benjamin, Cadet, Open Mixed, Women’s, and Veterans. The tournament showcased exciting encounters, strategic brilliance, and high-level competition, culminating in a prize-award ceremony where the best performers were recognised for their outstanding achievements. The event marked the beginning of a new era for FECADE under the leadership of its newly elected president, Benjamin Didier Banlock.
