The free outreach in Ngat-Bane Village, Mbalmayo Subdivision of Nyong and So'o Division, was overseen by the Mayor of Mbalmayo, Dieudonne Zang Mba Obele.
In a major boost to rural healthcare access, the 25th batch of the Chinese medical team in Cameroon has successfully conducted a comprehensive, free medical outreach programme in Ngat-Bane village. Which is located in Mbalmayo Subdivision, Nyong and So’o Division of the Centre Region.
The initiative on June 6, 2026 brought much-needed specialized medical expertise directly to a community. Where access to standard hospital facilities remains a significant challenge for many vulnerable families.
Over 230 Patients Treated
Throughout the intensive day-long clinic hosted at the local health center, more than 230 patients – mostly women, young people, and children - received free medical consultations, clinical diagnoses, treatments, and essential pharmaceuticals. To address the diverse healthcare needs of the rural population, the Chinese medical mission deployed specialists across eight distinct medical fields.
These were internal medicine and general surgery, orthopedics, obstetrics and gynecology, ophthalmology (eye care), otolaryngology (Ear, Nose and Throat, ENT), and traditional Chinese acupuncture and Rehabilitation.
For many residents, the outreach provided a rare opportunity to see specialized doctors without the burden of traveling long distances or incurring unaffordable medical bills.
Vital Lifeline For The Disadvantaged
Expressing deep gratitude on behalf of the beneficiary population, the Mayor of Mbalmayo, Dieudonne Zang Mba Obele, emphasized the profound local impact of the intervention. He noted that the exercise targets the most vulnerable segments of society who are often left behind by conventional healthcare infrastructure.
"I believe that the friendly relationship between China and Cameroon allows us to organize these events every year for the most disadvantaged populations," Mayor Zang Mba Obele stated during the event. "Some cannot even reach the hospital, and some cannot even get to Mbalmayo. As you can see, there are women, young people, and children who received free care today. They were examined, they were treated, and they were given medication."
Profound Satisfaction
Members of the Chinese medical contingent expressed profound satisfaction with the outcome of the campaign, stating that relieving the immediate physical pain of local patients brings deep joy to the team. They reaffirmed their commitment to utilizing their medical expertise and compassion to ensure local residents feel the enduring goodwill shared between the two nations.
Five Decades Of Medical Solidarity
This latest intervention is part of a long-standing bilateral healthcare partnership. Since China dispatched its first medical mission to Cameroon in 1975, a total of 25 distinct batches - comprising 811 medical personnel - have been deployed to the country.
Over the last five decades, these teams have consistently traveled across various regions of Cameroon. Embedding themselves within local healthcare structures, offering continuous medical care, and earning widespread acclaim for their contributions to public health.
