North-West: Women Empowered To Rear Goats

Fundong (Boyo)-Some communities in Boyo division are sounding off about a livelihood project to promote household income through diversification through animal husbandry. The welcome project, promoted by Plan International, is around to improve access to income to ensure economically secured households. It is all about a project that is expected to reduce vulnerability, related to food insecurity, education, health and nutrition among households. Launching the project in  Fundong, Boyo Division on May 10th, 2017, the North West  Program Unit  Coordinator of Plan Cameroon, Emmanuella Nting Songbi said her organization will support households and youth economic  empowerment through village savings and loan schemes and equally support income diversification through micro-enterprise development and employment opportunities for youth and women.
Women are the greatest beneficiaries of the project. Emmanuella Nting Songbi told the launching event that the project targets 80 per cent of women and youths from 25 communities in four councils in the North West region, (Belo, Njinikom, Fundong and Ndop). It emerged from the event that pioneer beneficiary communities include Meli ,Ngwankuma, Fundong Village, Fujua and Mentang in Fundong sub Division.
