African Nations Volleyball Championship: One Step To Continental Crown

T he Volleyball Lions of Came­ roon have qualified for the final of the 2026 Men’s African Nations Volleyball Championship in Tunis, Tunisia. They achieved this feat by defeating Algeria 3 sets to 1 in the semi-finals on September 23, 2026. Cameroon put up a strong performance, winning the first two sets 25–22 and 25–16. Algeria re­ gained its confidence in the third set, winning 25–20, but Cameroon came back stronger to take the fourth set 25–23 and win the contested match, which lasted one hour and 55 minutes. Reaching the final also means that Cameroon has automatically qualified for the 2027 Men’s Volleyball World Championship in Poland. Today Sep­ tember 25, 2026, the team faces host Tunisia in the final. Tunisia de­ feated fellow North African side Mo­ rocco 3 sets to 1 to secure its place in the final and also qualify for the World Championship. In addition to the continental crown, the winner of the African Nations Volleyball Championship will qualify for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. The Cameroonian team has this objective firmly in mind as it prepares for the decisive encounter. The final will certainly not be an easy one for the Volleyball Lions, as they are facing host Tunisia, the most successful team in the history of the competition.
