Promoting Food Security In Cameroon : FAO Director-General Assures More Commitment

Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute and Qu Dongyu had a working session yesterday April 22, 2024 at the Star Building.

Exploring agricultural potentials and ideas on guaranteeing food security in Cameroon were yesterday April 22, 2024 discussed at the Star Building during a working session between the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute and the Director General of the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations, Dr. Qu Dongyu, on a 72-hour working visit in Cameroon. The Prime Minister was accompanied by key sector cabinet Ministers who in their respective presentations highlighted domains to improve cooperation ties.  
Welcoming the Director-General of FAO, the Prime Minister noted that Cameroon which is an agricultural country is pleased to receive the leader of an institution that has been very useful in the development of the sector in Cameroon. “We pride ourselves as being the bread basket of Central Africa. Agriculture is at the centre of our country’s development agenda. We want to assure you that Cameroon will continue to support the activities of your institution,” Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute stated. The Head of Government also congratulated Dr. Qu Dongyu for the different activities already carried out within the framework of promoting food security in member countries.  
In his response, the Chinese-born UN official appreciated the long collaboration that exists between Cameroon and FAO. “I had the honour to have a constructive dialogue with some Ministers under the leadership of the Prime Minister.
