Indomitable Lions : Possible Avenues In The Diaspora

As the indomitable Lions look forward to the upcoming World Cup qualifiers, there is need for a strong team able to face the challenges.

With the start of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers around the corner, preparations are gathering steam within the ranks of the national teams. Cameroon has two crucial World Cup qualifiers scheduled for June against Cape Verde and Angola. Since the poor showing of the Indomitable Lions at the 2023 AFCON in Côte d’Ivoire, the country is seeking for possible avenues of success for the team. The Indomitable Lions will go back to the pitch on June 3, 2024 after a four-month break. As a result, the coach must already be thinking of players he will call before the challenge. 
At the moment the possible way out has been the search for players in the diaspora to strengthen the team. In this light, the members of the technical bench of the Indomitable Lions team led by the head coach, Marc Brys, have begun scouting players in Europe who are expected to represent the country during upcoming international assignments. The intention of Marc Brys’ mission to Europe is to evaluate potential players for the national team. The first stop of Coach Brys was in Frankfurt, Germany where he and his assistants watched a day 30 match of the Bundesliga championship in which two Cameroonians took part. Marc Brys was able to detect four players notably Hugo Ekitike (Striker), Jean-Junior Dina Ebimbe (Central Midfielder), Jean-Matteo Bahoba (Left Winger), Noël Fetue (Striker) and Jérôme Onguéné (Central Defender), who did not play on that day. He equally had some discussions with Mathias Beck, president of Eintracht Frankfurt.
