CAR Presidential Election : Touadera Wins Third Mandate

Provisional results made public by the Electoral Commission on Monday credit him with 76.15% of votes.

The Central African Republic’s (CAR), Electoral Com- mission has declared President Faustin-Archange Touadera winner of the December 28, 2025 presidential election after securing an outright majority. The results, announced by the CAR’s top election official, Mathias Morouba, show Touadera receiving 76.15% of the votes. Former Prime Minister Anicet-Georges Dologuele trailed with 14.66%, while another former Prime Minister, Henri-Marie Dondra, garnered 3.19%. The 68-year-old President, who first took office in the CAR more than a decade ago, had been seeking a third term follo- wing a 2023 constitutional referen- dum that removed presidential term limits. He was first elected in 2016 and won again in 2020. The mathematics professor campai- gned on security gains, crediting al- liances with Russian security contractors restructured from the Wagner Group and Rwandan troops recapturing territory from rebels and signing recent peace deals. The main opposition coalition, the Repu- blican Bloc for the Defense of the Constitution (BRDC), boycotted the elections, questioning their fair- ness. Opponents of the President have already claimed widespread fraud and manipulation during the vote count. Opposition candidates have until January 20 to file official complaints with the Constitutional Court, which is expected to an- nounce the final results by the end of the month.
