However, recent research suggests that the impact of climate change on mental health is a matter of significant concern, particularly in relation to the effects of excessive heat on vulnerable populations. The project: Building African climate-health attribution data, digital tools and capacity dubbed “AFRIVERSE”, launched last week in Yaounde, seeks to establish a robust climate-health attribution data framework, leveraging digital tools and capacity-building initiatives to investigate the impact of climate change on the health of African populations, particularly those afflicted with cardiovascular, respiratory, psychological, or mental illnesses. This pioneering project, will rely on the collection and analysis of hospital data, records, and meteorological information to elucidate the intricate relationships between climate change and health outcomes. As the project continues, it's imperative to acknowledge the profound impact of mental health on communities. A recent tragedy at the Nkolbisson neighbourhood in Yaounde, has left many in shock. A mother, Kevine, took the lives of her three young children, aged 1, 4, and 6, before ending her own life. While the circumstances are still unclear, marital tensions allegedly linked to her husband's infidelity appear to have played a significant role. Notably, Kevine had previously threatened to take her own life.
