The population of the Far North Region can now bid farewell to load shedding. The project, launched within the framework of the President’s initiated Emergency Plan and manned by Aggreko International Power Project Dubai UAE, has been finalised. Maroua now has a new thermal plant with installed capacity of 10 Megawatts. Jean-Bernard Sadeu, head of the project broke the news to reporters in Maroua with all confidence that load shedding in the Far North Region is now a thing of the past. Constructed at the Mayabe neighbourhood in the Maroua II Council area, the plant is said to have provided employment for 30 people. Considering the fast growing population of the region, another project is being earmarked for 2019 where a solar energy generator will see the light of day with a production capacity of 15 Megawatts.
