They were anxiously waiting for the 2017/2018 school year resumption and have since been experiencing secondary school life excitements.
Starting college is a daunting experience and your first day can sometimes be the most challenging. It is natural on the part of every student to remember his or her first day in secondary school. It gave many a terrible feeling of fear and anxiety, though being accompanied to school by their parents or guardians.
Monday September 4, 2017, was day one for schools re-opening for the 2017/ 2018 academic year, the feeling was not different as one could see young boys and girls well dressed in their school uniforms on their way to school. The difference was clear for those who were old students and the new folks. What makes the difference was that the old students could make their way to school without any problem but one could easily identify new folks because they were being accompanied to school by their parents or guardians .Wearing faces of excitement and nervousness.
At Government Bilingual High School (GBHS), Essos in Yaounde, Fokoua Glory expressed how excited she was seeing herself in College something she had dreamt of. “I feel very happy to come to secondary school. I feel like a big girl now because secondary school is higher than primary school,” she noted. Another stop was at Golden Bilingual School (GBS), Nkolmeseng in Yaounde, Mengue Ngoumou Marie, a form one student, “ I was so eager to come to school today. I prepared my school things last night so that I could come to school early”. The principal of GBHS Essos, Stephen Ncha Chi and the priniciple of GBS, Ngantou Dare told CT that all was set for the students to begin the school year. The students were given the school rules and regulations and they were encouraged to take their studies very seriously for a journey of a thousand miles to their education begins now.

« Je remarque qu’un accent est mis sur la spiritualité dans mon collège et cela ramène les élèves à affermir leur foi. La discipline est telle que chaque enfant est obligé de se concentrer. Il y a déjà des devoirs à faire à la maison et on annonce aussi pour bientôt les évaluations…Mon premier jour a été stressant. Je ne connaissais personne. Mais j’ai pu me faire des amis en une semaine ».

« Ce n’est pas facile de maintenir les plus jeunes des classes de 6e dans la discipline. Il faut les tenir à l’œil pour éviter qu’ils gambadent partout. Et même dans les salles de classe, il faut que les enseignants les aident...
