Rights Commission Reiterates Call For Dialogue

Call was made during a press conference by the Chairperson on October 10, 2017 in Yaounde

 

The National Commission on Human Rights and Freedoms, NCHRF, has reiterated the need for a properly moderated, peaceful, sustained, inclusive and constructive dialogue for lasting solutions to problems raised by the Anglophone regions. The call was made during a press conference granted by the Chairperson of the commission, Dr. Divine Banda Chemuta, on October 10, 2017 in Yaounde. He clearly stated that his outfit condemns violence by all parties and recommend dialogue. “The Commission’s report on the crisis produced in February this year recommends the use of a mediator in dialogue to facilitate the resolution of the crisis. In a press release on August 31, 2017, we further called for the resumption of schools, an end to ghost towns and sustained dialogue in search of lasting solutions to the issues raised in the crisis,” he stated.
He further condemned the violence perpetrated around manifestations on September 22 and October 1 from whatever source it came. Dr Chemuta also frowned at the use of hate language in the management of the crisis.
