Fight Against Corruption: South West Ranked Sixth In Cameroon

A two-day session to evaluate the anti-corruption crusade in the region ended in Buea on October 31, 2017.

 

The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) has scored the South West Region a mark of 31.11 percent in its most recent national rating for 2016. As such, the NACC report ranks the South West as sixth among the 10 Regions of Cameroon in fighting poverty, discrimination, favouritism, nepotism, oppression, greed and other vices contrary to national morals.
The Chairman of NACC, Reverend Dr. Dieudonné Massi Gams, made the revelation on October 31, 2017 in the South West Regional capital, Buea, as he opened the Regional workshop to evaluate the 2017 Anti-Corruption action plan during which a work plan for 2018 was elaborated. He underscored that fighting corruption was tantamount to promoting social justice, peace, security, and development for the benefit of all good citizens. To Massi Gams, the South West harbours noble people who should lead the fight against corruption, and make the Region a glowing example of integrity in Cameroon. He commended the South West as an average student though still stagnating in performance between 29 and 33 percent since 2012 when the fight against the corruption cankerworm was ignited.
