Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism: Consultations At Minresi
Promoting the level of bilingualism amongst staff at the ministry was the main objective of the visit on November 2, 2017.
The National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism on November 2, 2017 had a session with the Ministry of Scientific Research and Innovation, MINRESI, on the level of bilingualism in the establishment. The Commission which is on a ministerial tour will at the end of the various consultations make recommendations to the Head of State pertaining to the level of bilingualism. Speaking to the press shortly after the meeting, Barrister Nico Halle stated that their visit is rather a consolidation approach to see how they can ameliorate the level of bilingualism in the ministry. To the legal mind, bilingualism should match core values of love, justice, equity, peace and patriotism. “Bilingualism existed since 1961. Our Commission is here to see how bilingualism can impact and help to build the nation morally. Both English and French cultures have the underlying principle of peace. With the Preamble of the Constitution highlighting the unique linguistic culture and diversity of the country, it is therefore necessary for the commission to promote these fundamental principles that make our nation ideal” he stated.
