MINEFOP Concerts With GICAM

The Minister of Employment and Vocational Training (MINEFOP), Zacharie Perevet on Friday October 19th, held a working session with the consortium of business magnets, GICAM in view of integrating their views in upcoming reforms in labour legislation.

The Minister said the present context of labour is such that some companies terminate some permanent jobs, opting for temporal workers leading to drop in job security, recruitments done by internet thereby internationalising competition.

“Faced with these different challenges and changes in the labour world, it is necessary to adapt the regulatory framework to these evolutions. Harping on the theme, “stakes and challenges of temporal workers and supply of manpower in Cameroon, the Minister said the liberalisation of the supply of manpower led to the authorisation of 5,888 enterprises using temporal workers and 69 manpower supply agencies but today only 134 companies and 20 agencies legally carry out their activities.

The measure also led to tens of thousands people finding jobs. He however admitted some little hitches still persist to enable the companies and agencies to function to the best of their capacity.
