October 7 Poll: Observation Mission Expresses Satisfaction

The More Women In Politics network in a press declaration yesterday, also presented recommendations to improve the electoral process in Cameroon.
The founder and leader of the More Women in Politics network, Prof Justine Ndiffo has presented a declaration to pressmen in Yaounde, stressing that the minor irregularities observed by the over 400 observers they deployed in seven regions, were not enough to affect the outcome of the election.
While expressing satisfaction with the conduct of the poll, she hailed ELECAM, government, political parties, journalists, the civil society and the electorate for maturity demonstrated throughout the process.
She however noted that her network had organised a peace conference in Yaounde following declarations by some politicians that were liable to spark violence in the country. Prof Ndiffo also maintained the 2018 presidential election is now history, and urged politicians and their supporters to focus on upcoming 2019 elections.
The legal mind who was accompanied by a representative of the European Union and members of the More Women in Politics network, presented six recommendations which she said, if implemented, would go a long way to improve the democratic process in Cameroon.
The network suggested that all stakeholders should carry out a timely assessment of the electoral process, taking into consideration, security and humanitarian challenges in the Anglophone regions. She noted that the crisis would have a huge impact on legislative and municipal elections next year, if not solved. It also recommended that ELECAM should produce a manual of procedures of electoral operations for political parties and polling station agents.
