North West: Security Officials On Red Alert

A meeting to develop new security measures took place in Bamenda on November 30, 2018.
With the upsurge of the crisis in the North West Region the security situation has remained shaky as hardly does a day go by without a report of attacks leading to deaths. Armed groups parade the streets during the day firing gunshots, forcing the entire villages or towns to short down. Some villages have been completely deserted with some administrative authorities on their heels. Dead threats on individuals and the rate of kidnapping by armed groups is on the increase and the number of displaced persons is on the increase on a daily basis. As the end-of-year approaches with more activities, security challenges are bound to be preoccupying.
In effect the Governor of the North West Region Adolphe Lele Lafrique chaired a security meeting where he challenged all to work for normalcy to return in the region. He called on all, be they civilians or armed forces to be on the red alert as the end-ofyear approaches. He admitted that the spiral of violence in the region is alarming and called on all to rally behind the security officers to put the armed groups at bay. Adolphe Lele Lafrique regretted that the rate of killing, kidnapping, burning, looting and ghost town is on the increase, consequently he said, it should be the fight for all to ensure that peace returns to the region. Adolphe Lele Lafrique urged all those who have carried arms and are in the bushes to surrender and regain their normal activities.
