Soldiers Honoured with Medals, Epaulets

Over 190 soldiers were happy recipients of promotional insignias following the Presidential Decree of 27 December, 2018.

The apex of the various activities that marked the visit of the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in Charge of Defence, Joseph Beti Assomo to the Central African Republic was surely the award of medals and epaulets to meritorious soldiers. Two ceremonies were organized in strict military tradition in Bossangoa and Bangui on New Year day to symbolically immortalize the new year.

Whereas the affixing of the medals and epaulets constituted a historic ascending to the higher rung of professional ladder to the laureates, what appeared much more significant were the words accompanying the act which the Minister read in his speech during the ceremony.

Over 150 were happy recipients in Bossagoa while about 41 were honoured in Bangui. Each of the two events was marked by decorations, award of epaulets, speech of the Minister Delegate and military march past, animated by the Gendarmerie band that came all the way from Yaounde in the case of the ceremony in Bagui.

The decorations and award of epaulets were all ushered in by the reading of the Presidential Decree of 27 December, 2018. Commanded by Lt. Ovanbe Jean Daniel, the ceremony in Bangui which took place at FPU II camp, witnessed the participation of a medley of military officials of MINUSCA based in Bangui, military officials from Cameroon who accompanied the Minister Delegate, and members of the civilian population.

The ceremony was occasion for Beti Assomo to echo the appreciation of the Head of State, congratulate the soldiers and remind them of the tenets of the profession especially when working at an international level. On this sco...
