Diaspora : Double Nationality Under Scan

A few hours after being put in place, the committee members are already into serious business.
Members of the Committee on the Role of the Diaspora in the Crisis and Contribution to the Country’s Development yesterday, October 1, 2019 began brainstorming on best ways Cameroonians living beyond the borders can efficiently contribute to nation building. The committee which is chaired by Prof Atangana Amougou Jean Louis, assisted by five vice presidents, four rapporteurs and two resources persons began work with the selection of the different themes in relation to what has been prescribed by the Prime Minister after more than two weeks of consultations.
From their discussions, four main themes were agreed on by the entire committee members with the first being, the status of Cameroonians in the diaspora, the contribution of diaspora in the construction and bringing of peace in Cameroon, transfer of diaspora savoir faire and savoir to Cameroon and contribution of diaspora in the promotion of the image of Cameroon.
With regards to the first theme which focused on the status of the diaspora or double nationality, members of the committee after several exchanges unanimously agreed to propose a revision of the constitution to authorise double or multiple nationalities.
