World Tourism Organisation : Bill Proposes Statutes Amendments

The amendments amongst other things relate to the organic framework, financing rules, depositary, official and interpretation of languages.
Bill No 1057/PJL/AN to authorise the President of the Republic to ratify the amendments to the statutes of the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), adopted since its establishment in Mexico on September 27, 1970 has been tabled in Parliament for consideration. Explanatory notes of the bill indicate that the amendments in general govern UNWTO membership, the composition of the General Assembly and the Executive Council, as well as the terms of office of members of the said Council. The amendments concern the UNWTO organic framework relating to the Statutes, depositary, official and interpretation of languages, and financing rules. Other amendments concern the appointment of the Secretary-General, the designation and mechanism for information of the depository, which is the Spanish government.
