28th African Union Summit: Youth Proposals For Enhancing Development

A national preparatory meeting on the upcoming summit held in Douala from November 17-18, 2016.

 

Young people constitute the majority of active population not only in Cameroon but the world over, yet, they are not implicated in the development of the country. To create an enabling work environment for youth proper development and that of the country, a National Preparatory Meeting in prelude to the 28th African Union Summit that will hold on the theme: “Harness Demographic Dividend by Investing in Young People,” held in Douala November 17-18. Organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Civic Education (MINJEC), the Douala meeting came out with proposals on how to impact not only themselves, but contribute to the development of the nation as well.

Among the proposals that will be tabled during the upcoming summit, Jean Marc Afesi Mbafor, President of the Cameroon National Youth Council, intimated that the youth should be involved in all spheres of decision making because decisions taken for the youth without the youth will hardly reflect expected results.
