Legislative Election : Final Vote Counting Is Over

The National Commission for the Final Counting of Votes will forward the report of its operation to the Constitutional Council tomorrow, February 21, 2020.
After three days of work, the National Commission for the Final Counting of Votes, on February 19, 2020 finished the operation for the counting of votes for the February 9, 2020 election of the Members of the National Assembly.
Speaking during the session of the Commission on February 19, 2020, its Chairperson, Emile Essombè said the vote counting operation was finished. He also said the final report was ready and the Commission members appended their signatures to it. Emile Essombè said the report would have been forwarded to the Constitutional Council today, February 20, 2020 but for the solemn opening ceremony of the Supreme Court. As such, he announced that the report of the final counting of votes would only be forwarded to the Constitutional Council tomorrow. The forwarding of the report to the Constitutional Council on February 21 will be within the prescriptions of the Electoral Code which in Section 69 (4) states that, “The National Commission for the Final Counting of Votes shall draw up a report of all its operations. A copy with appended documents shall be forwarded within five days to the Constitutional Council.”
On the general conduct of the final vote counting operations, the representative of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) in the Commission, Minister Ibrahim Talba Malla told the press that all the political parties agreed on the figures and that they also agreed on the report. He said the work was done in a convivial manner and the end was collegial. Mr Talba Malla disclosed that when it came to some constituencies, divergences arose but in the final analysis there was consensus on the figure.
The representative of the opposition Social Democratic Front (SDF), Hon. Joseph Mbah Ndam on his part, said the work went on well. He specified that the role of the National Commission for the Final Counting of Votes was just to correct any calcul...
