Legislative Election : Eight Political Parties Win Seats

The Constitutional Council proclaimed the results of the February 9, 2020 legislative election on February 28, 2020.
Eight political parties will sit in Cameroon’s National Assembly in the 10th legislative period that will start in the days ahead and last up to 2025.

The results proclaimed by the President of the Constitutional Council, Justice Clément Atangana indicate in conformity with the decision of the council that elections rerun will be conducted in 11 constituencies that have 13 seats. It is for this reason that the results proclaimed concerned only 167 seats.
Following the results, the ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) has 139 seats. The party won seats in all the regions of Cameroon with the peculiarity of winning all in the South, South West and East Regions and the majority of seats in all the other regions.
The National Union for Democracy and Progress (NUDP) comes second with seven seats. The seats were won in the Adamawa, Far North and North Regions. The Social Democratic Front and the newcomer, Cameroon Party for National Reconciliation (PCRN) won five seats each. The PCRN won the three seats in the Nyong et Kelle constituency in the Centre Region and two others in the Littoral Region.
