Hemodialysis : Gov’t Acquires 40,000 Dialysis Kits

The government has received an important consignment of haemodialysis kits meant for different centres in the country. On Wednesday, May 6, 2020, the Public Health boss was at the esplanade of the Quality Assurance Centre for Medicine in Yaounde, to receive the over 40,000 dialysis kits brought from a manufacturing firm in Germany. Alongside the Minister of Public Health was the President of the Association of People Suffering from Kidney Failure in the Centre Region, Herman Nkoa. 
For close to an hour, Dr Malachie Manaouda and his entourage took time-off to examine the scores of cartons of haemodialysis kits amongst which; blood pump, heparin pump, inflow pressure monitor, dialyser, salin solution, venous pressure monitor and air trap and air detector. While speaking to the press, Dr Malachie Manaouda said last year, there were difficulties in making available dialysis kits in some health centres in the country.  As such, the Minister explained; “We decided to get in contact directly with the manufacturers of these items in Germany, so as to purchase and have in stock kits at all times.” According to the Minister of Public Health, the kits will be used for a long term. The purpose of such an action, Dr Manaouda noted, is to rationalise and optimise treatment given to those undertaking haemodialysis in Cameroon. This is a temporary solution as Dr Malachie Manaouda said that measures are being taken to institute the transplant of organs.
