After a series of brainstorming, experts of the economic institution say more time is needed for the borders of member countries be thrown open
Despite the growing anger from drivers and business persons, no date has yet been set for the reopening of the borders between member countries of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA). For several weeks, UEMOA and members of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), have been holding frequent meetings to harmonize policies in this area. Most of the talks via video conference have centered on the need to avoid the spread of the pandemic and how to boost the economic needs of member countries after several months of dormancy. For several days rumors have been circulating, from Ouagadougou to Abidjan, by an angry movement from heavy load transporters, many of whom have seen their activities stopped.
