Pesticides Committee: Cameroon Hosts Central Africa Headquarters

The agreement was signed in Yaounde on December 8, 2016.

 

Yaounde, capital of Cameroon now officially hosts the headquarters of the Central African Inter-State Committee on Pesticides. The headquarter agreement was signed in Yaounde on December 8, 2016 between the Minister Delegate in the Ministry of External Relations in charge with Relations with the Islamic World, Adoum Gargoum, sitting in for the Minister and the  representative of the President of the CEMAC Commission.

Established in 2007 and set up in 2012 as a specialised institution of the Central African Economic Union, CPAC's mission is not only to define a community policy on the harmonisation of pesticide management procedures, but also to assist member States in the implementation of phyto-sanitary measures compatible with relevant international standards, the Minister Adoum Gargoum noted. CPAC also protects member States against the risks arising from the uncontrolled importation of agrochemicals and associated misuse.
