Election Campaign : The Rush To Gather Funds

Campaign for the December 6, 2020 election of Regional Councillors is expected to start on November 21 to run for 15 days.
Célestin Bedzigui, President of the Liberal Alliance Party (PAL) and list leader of his party for the Lekie Constituency in the December 6, 2020 election of reginal councillors, has circulated information in many WhatsApp chat groups announcing that he was starting campaign for the poll on November 4, 2020 and said, he welcomes support.
Indeed, support for candidates in the December 6, 2020 election is crucial at this time considering that they are making final preparations for campaign that will start on November 21. This will be in respect of Section 87 (1 and 2 ) of the Electoral Code which states that, «The election campaign shall open on the 15th day preceding the election and close at midnight on the eve of the election day. Candidates may prepare circulars, manifestos or posters at their own expenses or that of the party presenting their candidatures. » Elections Cameroon (ELECAM), the country’s elections managing body in connection with the campaign has already produced the campaign ballots for the candidates who are Delegates of Divisions and traditional rulers.
The ball with regard to preparing for the campaign is therefore now on the side of the candidates and political parties. On the field, the different candidates are making efforts to raise campaign money to be used in acquiring materials, facilitate movement and other logistics. At the level of the National Union for Democracy and Progress (NUDP) that will be running for the election in 11 constituencies, mobilisation for the campaign funds is ongoing. The Director of the NUDP headquarters, Kuma Peter Kombain told Cameroon Tribune that the different candidates are making contributions for the campaign. In the Cameroonian Party for National Reconciliation (PCRN) according to its National Communication Secretary, Armand Okol, individual candidates are raising funds. He said the party is also raising funds.
