North West : Bamenda II Shares With DDR Ex-Combatants

The Mayor and councillors took gifts, cash and messages of peace, love and hope to ex-combatants of the Bamenda DDR Center on November 10, 2020.

"We are solidly by ex-combatants with prayers for good health, happiness and hope. We appreciate the decision to surrender and make yourselves availalable for nation building". That was the message which Bamenda II Mayor, Chenwi Peter took to ex-combatants of the Bamenda -based, Disarmament, Demobilisation and Re-integration Center, (DDR) on November 10, 2020. The Mayor and councillors were at the center with peace plants, symbols of the nation, gifts of plantains, garri, beans, corn, potatoes, palm oil, pads, soap, sugar and  FCFA 200. 000 cash to support their wellbeing. Chenwi Peter hailed the ex-combatants for their decision to drop guns and announced imminent gainful opportunities and activities for them at the Subdivisional council. He equally stated the preparedness of the Council to help the Ex-combatants enjoy end of year feasts without tears.
The ex-fighters jumped for joy with songs and dance in gratitude. Their Senior Prefect acknowledged atrocities while they were in the bushes and was thankful to the society that is gradually accepting them. They pledged patience, tolerance and handwork in preparedness to be good citizens. 
The Regional Coordinator of the Bamenda DDR Center, Gabsa Sixtus saluted the gesture of the Bamenda II council and hoped it will inspire elite and other institutions to rush with encouragements for the ex-combatants.
