Need To Redouble Efforts

Five days to the end of campaign for the election of Regional Councillors slated for Sunday, December 6, 2020, the various actors in the electoral process need to redouble efforts to ensure a free, fair, transparent and credible election in which the results are accepted by stakeholders.
All the actors ranging from the elections institution, Elections Cameroon (ELECAM), political parties that have filed candidates in the various constituencies in quest for Regional Councillors, traditional rulers who are candidates and electors, the administration and observers must fine-tune their efforts within the five days to the election.
Candidates have to evaluate the effectiveness of their campaign strategies within the first week of campaign, correct lapses and go back to the drawing board and inject innovative strategies in order to woo electors. Traditional rulers, especially in constituencies where many lists are in competition have to adopt cajoling campaign strategies to woo their peers who are not yet decided on the lists to vote for.
Elections Cameroon (ELECAM) has to once more prove its credibility through the proper organisation of the electoral process. The Chairperson of the ELECAM Electoral Board, Enow Abrams Egbe and the Director General of Elections, Erik Essoussè in different declarations have assured of the preparedness of ELECAM to ensure a successful poll. The declarations have to be translated into concrete reality through the proper training of ELECAM officials to handle the different aspects of the election. ELECAM also has to ensure that all the electoral material is in place, the various commissions set up and officials trained, as well as a perfect synergy with other local stakeholders.
The administration whose mission is liaising with the electoral body through the Ministry of Territorial Administration has to redouble efforts to effectively play its support role.
