First Lady Congratulates Djaili Amadou Amal

This was during an audience at the East wing of the Unity Palace, yesterday December 23, 2020.

The First Lady of Cameroon, Chantal Biya has extended warm congratulations to the Cameroonian writer, Djaili Amadou Amal, for her literature award “the Goncourt Prize” for high school students 2020 through her book titled “Les Impatientes” and also the Goncourt Prize Choice of the Orient 2020. This was during a brief audience between both ladies yesterday, December 23, 2020 at the East Wing of the Unity Palace. 
With such words of gratitude and encouragement, the writer and feminist activist who hails from Diamare in the Far North Region stepped out of the Oriental Pavilion of the Unity Place in all smiles to tell the press how happy she was to have been received by the First Lady of the nation. Djaili Amadou Amal told pressmen how proud the First Lady was about her and her literacy works which have kept the flag of Cameroon flying high at home and abroad. The writer explained; “the First Lady told me how she followed up the Goncourt Prize competition and knows about the different books I have written”.  The brief encounter was also an opportunity for the feminist activist to talk about her association that fights against violence on women with the First Lady. 
The meeting between Chantal Biya and Djaïli Amadou Amal was certainly a fruitful one between two passionate people focused on improving the livelihood of vulnerable persons particularly women.  Mrs Chantal Biya, who is also UNESCO’s Goodwill Ambassador for Education and Social Inclusion, has put in many years of humanism towards the needy.
