Digital Youth Service : Minister Launches Cluster Project

Over 300 Youths have been targeted for the first face in Douala.

The Minister of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, Mounouna Foutsou, has called on youths in Douala to get involved in productive digital usage so as to improve on their livelihood. This was during the launching of the Cluster “Digital Youth Service Center” (DYSC) in Douala on Thursday February 4, 2021 in the Littoral Governor’s esplanade.
During the launching ceremony, Minister Mounouna Foutsou urged youths to be patriotic. He said the project is just in the first stage, and will gradually involve 30,000 young people over a three-year period. He added that the DYSC project has several components. Such as the financial inclusion component which will dematerialize sale of telephone credit, mobile money transaction, bill payments, digital e-commerce platforms available for the young people to facilitate the marketing of their products/services online, as well as a holistic encounter between service providers and consumers, and fundraising for their parties like banks, micro-finances and others.
As a start-up for some of the youths selected in Douala, Minister Mounouna Foutsou handed over some digital equipment, as well as solar panels to some 61 youths who have undergone training on how to use and manage that equipment.
