Senate : Three Bills Tabled

The House President, Marcel Niat Njifenji presided the plenary sitting during which the bills were tabled on June 9, 2021.
Some three bills have been tabled at the Senate for scrutiny. The bills pertaining to finance, economic and diplomatic cooperation were tabled during a plenary sitting presided at by the Senate President, Marcel Niat Njifenji on June 9, 2021.
Bill No.164/PJL/SEN/2L seeks to ratify Ordinance No.2021/2 of May 26, 2021 to amend and supplement some provisions of Law No.2020/18 of December 17, 2020: Finance Law of the Republic of Cameroon for the 2021 financial year. The Ordinance mainly seeks to raise the ceiling for non-concessional loans in the State budget from FCFA 300 billion to FCFA 750 billion. It also authorises the government to resort to issues on the international market for an amount of FCFA 450 billion for the partial or total redemption of the current Eurobond.
The second bill (No.165/PJL/SEN/2L) authorises the President of the Republic to ratify the cooperation agreement between the government of Cameroon and the Swiss Federal Council, on the reciprocal abolition of the visa requirement for holders of diplomatic or service passports, signed in Yaounde on September 26, 2014. Explanatory notes of the legal instrument states that it abolishes visa applications and payment related fees for holders of the aforementioned passports of the two States. The visa exemption also extends to members of their families. For reasons of national security, public order, or for any other serious reason, each party may reserve the right to stay the application of this Agreement which further provides that disputes arising from its interpretation or application will be settled amicably through ...
