AFCON 2021 Infrastructure : Host Cities Ready To Receive Africa

The last lap of the information mission to the sites led by the Minister of State, Secretary General at the Presidency, Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh ended in Yaounde yesterday October 24.
The nine-day infrastructure inspection tour of the Minister of State, Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic, Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh, ended yesterday October 24, 2021 on a satisfactory note first from the Minister, then the delegation members and inhabitants of visited sites. The tour in Yaounde yesterday took the delegation to the lone five-star hotel in the nation’s capital, Hilton Hotel that will host CAF officials during the 33rd edition of the continental football jamboree dubbed “2021 TotalEnergies AFCON.
The conspicuous architectural jewel located at the 20th May Boulevard has been given a facelift. The conference room has been modernised and a metallic makeshift fence put in place to ensure total security of visitors. With 248 rooms and suits inclusive, the structure is big enough to host not only CAF officials but some teams as well. Visitors that will lodge in the hotel will have the sporadic opportunity to meet and even take selfies with some humble CAF Officials. Mont Fébé Hotel situated at the foothill of the Fébé neighbourhood will play host to teams Cameroon and Morocco. According to the General Manager of the hotel, Nicolas Tchobang, they are ready to make life comfortable for the teams. The 210-room capacity hotel, according to him, has acquired new equipment, reinforced security and taken adequate measures against Covid-19. Other selected hotels for the tournament include Njeuga Palace that will host Ethiopia and Ghana. The four-star hotel has constructed 60 more rooms bringing the total to 216 rooms that will be more than enough to host the two teams. La Falaise Hotel that will harbour Cape Verde and Gabon is done with finishing touches. While Relaxe Palace will play host to Burkina Faso, Merina Hotel will harbour Comoros. The SGPR though satisfied with the hotels so far, however gave recommendations to polish up.
The visit equally took the delegation to some health establishments where a thorough inspection was carried out to make sure they are ready to provide adequate healthcare to patients before, during and even after the huge continental gathering that will bring in some 24 football teams from different African countries. Since “health is wealth” the Cameroon government has made sure that visitors get the best of medical attention. Evidences are the rehabilitation of some health establishments including the Yaounde Teaching Hospital; CHU, the acquisition of ultra-modern medical equipment like scanners in the Yaounde General hospital as well as the Yaounde Emergency Centre. The Yaounde Central hospital, the military hospital and the National Social Insurance Fund hospital are ready for an emergency.
