Sino-African Relations : New Perspectives In The Horizon

Prior to the opening ceremony of FOCAC Summit on Monday, Senegal's Foreign Minister, Tall Sall called on China to lend support in the fight against insecurity in the Sahel region.
The Eighth Ministerial Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) has started in Dakar (Senegal). Prior to the two-day Summit that kicked-off on Monday, November 29, 2021, Senegalese Foreign Minister, Tall Sall after meeting her Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, on Sunday said, she hoped China would be a “strong voice” in combating terrorism in the vast semi-arid region. The Islamist militants are active across most of the Sahel, south of the Sahara desert, waging a conflict that has continued for years despite the presence of French troops and United Nations peacekeepers.
Holding under the theme, “Deepen China-Africa Partnership and Promote Sustainable Development to Build a China-Africa Community with a Shared Future in the New Era”, participants at the forum are expected to adopt four documents. The Dakar Action Plan (2022-24), the 2035 Vision for China-Africa Cooperation, the Sino-African Declaration on Climate Change, and the Declaration of the Eighth Ministerial Conference of the FOCAC. It is also likely to open a new chapter in building a shared community amid the COVID-19 pandemic and fast-changing international situations.
Twenty-one years since the establishment of the FOCAC, China and Africa have made remarkable achievements and strengthened cooperation.
