Burkina Faso : Reconciliation Forum Postponed

The announcement was made by the country’s Minister of Reconciliation Zephirin Diabre after meeting with opposition leader Eddie Komboigo.
Burkina Faso’s National Reconciliation Forum slated for January 17 to 23, 2022, has been postponed to a later date. The information was made public by the Minister for National Reconciliation, Zephirin Diabre. The announcement came after consultations with opposition leader, Eddie Komboigo on Tuesday, December 28, 2021. A few weeks ago, the opposition suspended its participation in meetings organized to protest against the deteriorating security situation in the country especially in the north.
But Minister Zephirin Diabre believes it is very important and time that the opposition takes its place in the reconciliation process. He pleaded on the opposition to return to the national reconciliation process, which is in its final phase, that of preparations for the forum. He added that the documents of the national reconciliation strategy are ready. But the guidance and monitoring council and the organizing committee are not yet installed.
