The Civil Cabinet of the Presidency has published a special issue of its news magazine putting on the limelight the actions of the Head of State and First Lady to project sports in the country.
The Civil Cabinet in a 276-page special issue of its news magazine, “Le Temps des Opportunités” with more than 300 highly illustrative magnificent pictures has published President Paul Biya’s diverse actions to promote football and make Cameroon a great sports nation.
The special issue of the publication entitled “Succeeding Together,” begins with an editorial written by its publisher who doubles as the Minister, Director of the Civil Cabinet, Samuel Mvondo Ayolo. In the editorial titled, “Paul Biya, Sports and Opportunities”, he goes back to President Biya’s declared commitment to sports, stated on December 14, 1982 at the Unity Palace during a reception in honour of Cameroonian sportsmen and women. He is quoted as having declared, “…Provide Cameroonians with qualified sports officials and suitable sports infrastructure for high-level competitions, training and recreational purposes.” The publication presents the consistence and logical implementation of the vision contained in the 1992 Unity Palace declaration.
Part one of the news magazine has the title, “Paul Biya and AFCON STARS”. The pages 11-105 dedicated to the part, revisit the reception ceremonies President Paul Biya offered the Indomitable Lions after each of their five victorious Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and other international competitions. Treated here are the reception ceremonies of the Indomitable Lions after their victories in AFCON in Côte d’Ivoire in 1984, Morocco in 1988, Nigeria in 2000, Mali in 2002 and Gabon in 2017. President Paul Biya’s encouraging speeches are published and pictures of the event equally published. The remarkable presence of the First Lady, Chantal Biya the Indomitable Lions’ fan and enthusiastic supporter of sports and football in particular are equally exhibited in writing and telling pictures.
The second part of the publication entitled, “AFCON 2021 and OPPORTUNITIES FOR EMERGENCE,” presents Cameroon’s hosting of AFCON TotalEnergies 2021 as the outcome of President Paul Biya’s “Great Opportunities” policy.
