Australian Open 2022: Nadal Faces Berrettini In Semis

Rafael Nadal again showed the immense fight which has characterised his career as he overcame physical issues to beat Canada's Denis Shapovalov to book a place in the final four. Nadal won 6-3, 6-4, 4-6, 3-6, 6-3 over Shapovalov. The world number six who had not played competitively for almost four months, is now just two wins away from capturing a 21st Grand Slam title that will take him ahead of both Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer.
On the other hand, Matteo Berrettini launched a remarkable resurgence in the fifth set to defeat 17th seed Gaël Monfils and book an Australian Open semi-final ticket. Berrettini had looked down and out when he lost the third and fourth sets to Monfils, but a double break early in the fifth edged the Italian towards victory. He went on to triumph over the Frenchman 6-4, 6-4, 3-6, 3-6, 6-2.
