Chad: Preparations Intensify Ahead Of Doha Talks

On Monday, the Civil Society called on organizers to include the mediation of the Sant'Egidio Community.
Preparations ahead of talks between the Transitional Government and “politico-military” movements have entered high gear with call by the Civil Society on the Chadian authorities to include the Sant'Egidio Community (close to the Vatican) in the dialogue to take place at the end of the month in the Qatari capital, Doha. To the members of the Civil Society, mediation by Sant'Egidio which brought together various politico-military movements last month in Rome is a guarantee of inclusiveness, coordinator of the civil society group Wakit Tama, Max Loalngar explained. He added that, a peace process must be inclusive and “cannot leave the unhappy behind the methodology of the Sant'Egidio Community can bring transparency and clarity, without excluding anyone and therefore inspire the actors of the transition in Chad,” insists Max Loalngar.
At the end of January, the representatives of the politico-military groups met in Rome for a “symposium on the future of Chad” under the aegis of the Sant'Egidio Community, in order to propose a “contribution” to this pre-dialogue.
