Social Dialogue Committee : Members Pursue Discussions

The 32rd Session of the Consultation and Social Dialogue Monitoring Committee took place yesterday March 2, 2022 in Yaounde.
The Minister of Labour and Social Security, Gregoire Owona says the government will continue discussions on the health crisis currently taking place worldwide. He was speaking during the 32rd Session of the Consultation and Social Dialogue Monitoring Committee. The meeting held for the first time this year, yesterday March 2, 2022. The meeting, which lasted for close to three hours, held behind closed doors.
Speaking to committee members, the Minister of Labour and Social Security, who is also head of the Social Dialogue Monitoring Committee said certain countries have uplifted barrier measures against Covid-19, because they have attained a vaccination rate of over 80 per cent. But, this is not the case with other countries such as Cameroon which has problems attaining a Covid-19 vaccination rate of 10 per cent. “As we await the scientific council for further information about the Covid-19 pandemic, the government is still waiting to take a conclusive decision on how May 1, will be commemorated”, Minister Gregoire Owona noted. He however said it is necessary to ensure the strict respect of the sanitary protocols and to keep in mind that the most important thing currently is to have workers in good health to guarantee economic productivity and development of the country.
