They displayed their prowess in the consolidation of 50 years of “National Unity” during the National Day march past in Yaounde on May 20, 2022.
Women, hitherto considered as the weaker group of people in the society who could not be found at the forefront in matters of great magnitude, have proven otherwise as the country commemorated its 50th National Unity Day. During the military parade to grace the National Day celebration at the 20th May Boulevard in Yaounde, women from the different corps in the military in front of the Head of State, Paul Biya and wife, Chantal as well as other dignitaries displayed strength, grandeur and self-assurance as a sign to prove that what men can do, they too have done and are still doing with faith and dedication to ensure peace, unity and prosperity in the nation.
The military march past could not have been complete without the female folks. Be it the march past by the foot soldiers or those mounted on motorised squadrons, women in their different corps showed that they are up to the task when it comes to maintaining peace and unity in the country. While marching past to the rhythm of the Presidential Guard, National Gendarmerie, Army as well as the National Police Bands, the women reaffirmed their determination to consolidate peace and unity in the country. Alongside their male colleagues, in bold and close-order they marched to the command of Brigadier General Agha Robinson, Commander of the Third Combined Military Region.
